The rise of a politician at the top
After studying chemistry and law, Margaret Thatcher specializes in tax law and decided to enter politics. At age 28, she became a member of the Conservative party. Its rise is meteoric. She was successively a member of the House of Commons (position she held until 1993) and Minister of Education (1970 to 1974). In May 1979, she arrived in Downing Street. Margaret Thatcher asserts itself as the only woman to have gained access to the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
