Note : ce que j'ai écrit n'est pas une histoire mais plutôt une biographie, tout le contenu est véritable. C'est très émouvant. Seymour était un grand homme!
Seymour Reichtzeit was born on January 18 in 1908.
Born in Poland, the jewish boy was a child prodigy. Seymour loved music, and at a very young age he started singing in a synagogue.
In 1920 he emigrated to the United States along with his father, a cantor, and his older brother Jack, a songwriter. The governement didn't allow his mother and other siblings to come along. Seymour was so sad he sang a song his brother Jack had written in front of the then-president Calvin Coolidge. The president was so touched he granted the entry visas.
Seymour aged and started singing Yiddish (the language in which Jews speak in) music in theatres. He also translated Yiddish pop songs.
At 35 years old (in 1943), he married Myriam Kressyin, a famous Yiddish singer. They had no children.
She died 63 years later, in 1996.
