“myths and heroes”
I’m going to present a
character considered as a
hero: Steve Jobs.
I’ll give the definition of myth and heroes, then I'll present Steve
Jobs. That would be how I would answer the (because you are referring to a specific question) question: why are myths and
heroes important to our society?
According to the
dictionary definition, (use a comma) a myth is a traditional story, concerning the
early history of people or explaining a natural or social phenomenon,
and typically involving supernatural beings or events. Then (while,"then" is used when explaining a point further) a hero in
mythology and folklore, is a person with superhuman abilities who is
admired for his courage or extraordinary achievements. In the modern
world, hero has lost its former meaning (it hasn't lost its meaning rather it has gotten a new or perhaps a more inclusive meaning). It now means someone who is
courageous. Heroes are "heroic" (use quotation marks), they have "heroism". Heroes, like Batman or Superman, help rescue
people or society from bad people, villains or natural disasters. A hero can also be someone who is helpful, polite or
helps people who need it (you should write: gives help those who need it or helps those who need help..in your sentence implies something else). The word is used in the sports world to mean
an extraordinary player or an athlete. Sometimes, the main character of a
story is called a "hero" in a book or movies, like Harry Potter.
Steve Jobs story is the stuff of legends: from tinkering about with
electronics in a garage to launching a start-up, to creating one of the
worlds most successful companies. It’s not that he invented so many
things himself; he was more of the orchestrator of invention. He could see
the big picture and how certain innovations would fit into it, and he
pushed those innovations with relentless energy. This, together with eye
for detail and his perfectionism, meant that he managed to completely
revolutionize the computer world. But it wasn’t just personal computers
that came within Job’s sphere of influence: he affected telecommunications
in general, the music industry, tablet computing, digital publishing
and even retailing. Jobs has earned his place in history as an
entrepreneur of the same stature as Henry Ford.
people's lives with his achievements. Steve Jobs is considered a
hero because to make it to the top, he worked hard and was career-driven with
a strong-will. Now a days (these days or in recent times) he has been considered as a model.
conclude, myths and heroes are important to our society because they
can change the society with new technologies as Steve Jobs did. There are
also many heroes, like Mandela, who fought to counteract social inequalities.
The heroes are important to a society because they are examples. Many people
would like (love) them.
