The motorized camera mount for " time lapse " and " HDR " is primarily used for shooting movies or for a special event.
You should know that is a time-lapse video made by a series of photographs taken at different times to present in a short time evolution of the photographed object over a long period .My role in this project is to contribute in some ways to the design of the carriage on SolidWorks as well as the realization of translational guide camera on a support rail 1.8 m. To do this, I searched and found 3 solutions that correspond to this problem and each has advantages and disadvantages.In the first solution I've shown through this sketch , we can see skates attached to end of the bars that allow translation of the carriage to the chassis.
The benefits in this solution is that in all the support is adapted to carry out the project under the conditions and time given . And implementation and design can be accomplished with a fairly reasonable budget because there is little room to buy or design . Such that the rails is from 150 to 200E and the carriage may be designed in SolidWorks .
Unfortunately , this solution has a very low resistance (trolley plastic ) and requires additional work because many pieces to assemble , screws ...In the second solution , it can be seen that the carriage is made in a single block and is in the cubic surfaces that open ball bushings which allow the translation of the carriage on the chassis insert.
The advantages of this solution is that the rooms are very inexpensive as the ball bushes . The camera support is very easy to implement and can be done under the conditions and the time given because the chassis is designed as a single unit . The chassis is made of aluminum , which makes it rather lightweight chassis but also durable.
Then drawbacks there ' has not much but you can take into account that the linear ball bearings do not allow a perfect translation and without friction.In the third solution , the system is a bit more complex than the previous two solutions. It can be seen that the carriage is constituted mainly wheel skates and which replaces the linear bearings to translate with the chassis .
The advantages of this solution is more in terms of design but the disadvantages are numerous because the system has a very low resistance and instability wheels that could cause malfunction of support. So we can say that this solution suffers from great fragility. The system is also very expensive because of the number of a wheel which is a total of 4 * 4 = 16 wheels
It is also too bulky because it takes too much space . And finally, this solution gives extra work because of a large number of parts to assemble the wheels as well as the plate being screwed over .As you may have seen the last solution that I just present contains more disadvantage than advantages and it is therefore the fragility of this solution is directly eliminated. So we will interest a little more about the remaining first two solutions. The first solution has 3 advantages against disadvantages 2 . And the second solution has 4 advantages against a single drawback. So my choice is more about the second solution which is much more convenient to carry with its carriage block compared to the first solution where the carriage is composed of several parts to assemble .
Furthermore , in the second solution , the carriage is made of aluminum with a high and therefore with respect to the first solution where the carriage is made of plastic resistance . One can also take into account the beautiful design of the 2nd solution is that details of many but it is always guided the choice of a person.
